Moonlight and Magnolias  By Ron Hutchinson

 1939 Hollywood is abuzz. Legendary producer David O. Selznick has shut down production of his new epic, Gone with the Wind. The screenplay just doesn’t work. So what’s an all-powerful movie mogul to do? While fending off the film’s stars, gossip columnists & his father-in-law, he sends a car for famed screenwriter Ben Hecht & pulls director Victor Fleming from the set of The Wizard of Oz. Summoning both to his office, he locks the doors, closes the shades & on a diet of peanuts & banana’s, the three labor over 5 days to fashion the screenplay that will become the blueprint for one of the most successful & beloved films of all time.

* Seats $20 in advance/$25 at the door *

Vertigo Theatrics is proud to present our special project Tea with Grandmother. This is a presentation of living history by women 75 years or older from different races and ethnicities. The intention is to engage a large cross section of our community and produce awareness of history through real people from varying backgrounds and pasts. These ladies will relay from personal experiences their cultural heritage on community, world and local events. The women of this generation have lived through many major events in their life.  Our hope is to foster awareness of the contributions made to our society and the affects of historical events on women from our community. To open a line of communication by showing while we are all different, we are also the same. Our skilled moderator Lynne Ransom will guide these wonderful women down memory lane where we will be able to share in the first hand experiences of  Geraldine Blankinship,  Libera Cramer, Bea Enders, Vera Farah, Bimla Goel, Sylvia Levenson, Helene Streich, Charlotte L. Williams and our moderator Lynne Ransom. We are honored to have these ladies here enriching our lives through their willingness to share.

We at Vertigo Theatrics are grateful for the support received from the Ruth Mott Foundation through their Share Art Flint mini grants. This support has made it possible to add this program to our 2011/2012 schedule.

Presentations at the Masonic Temple will include a light lunch of small sandwiches, coffee, desserts and of course tea.
